My article on diversion safes Hiding In Plain Sight is featured in the latest issue of the design magazine Works That Work, Issue No 7 (Spring 2016). I had a lot of fun writing about security devices (catches that can hold money, passports, candy, or even weapons) that look like common household objects.
I profiled Vancouver’s Our Social Fabric, a non-profit volunteer-run fabric recycling centre for Seamwork Magazine in Fall 2015. When I was writing my article, it looked like the society was about to be reno-victed, but OSF has reopened their doors in a beautiful new space at of May 1, 2016!
My story about the cultural history of air fresheners and the New York City taxi was featured in Desktop: The Culture of Design – The Graphic Effect issue, October 2013.
My essay Stitching It Together, on the power of embroidery and community building is in Craftvism: The Art of Craft and Activism, edited by Betsy Greer (Arsenal Pulp Press, Spring 2014)
